Celebrate Our Freedom!

I

ndependence Day, the Fourth of July—whatever you call it, it's one of the most important days in the United States, one that calls for celebration year after year. And we should all celebrate our independence every day of the year!

It's easy to take our freedom for granted, but in 1776 it took guts and determination for our forefathers to tell England that we'd had enough of their long-distance rule and that we were going to run our own affairs. The colonists had to then fight a war for independence, and as a young nation we didn't have much more than a ragged army, little money, and not much in the way of firepower. But we mustered up the strength and won our independence once and for all.

On July 4th, there's no way we can celebrate too much, and there's no way we can ever repay those who came before us and were brave enough to forge our country. So pay homage to our nation, to our forebears, to our liberty! Go to the beach, watch the fireworks displays, barbecue with your friends and family, play baseball, volleyball, or Frisbee, and savor our freedom to do these things.

Add some "fireworks" to your home, with great red, white, and blue decorations from Avery's. We carry an incredible number of patriotic decorations, including items bearing a flag motif. Christopher Radko ornaments bearing the Stars & Stripes are terrific to display on the Fourth of July and all year long.

Dept. 56 American Pride Collection

The American Pride Collection includes a series of lighted building facades that symbolize our country's freedom and democracy, as well as stand to underscore our pride in being Americans. Each building includes one Department 56 patriotic pin and one collectible scroll.

These historic monuments serve as potent reminders of the values we share as a nation and allow us to celebrate our democracy.

The Lincoln Memorial features an exceprt from the Gettysburg Address, the Jefferson Memorial features an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence, and the White House features the Pledge of Allegiance and the names and terms of each President of the United States.
